Allied Services

Founded in the early 1960s, Allied Services is a non-profit healthcare system that provides inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania. The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) awarded special accreditation to Allied Services for their general rehabilitation and specialized programs.Headquartered in Scranton, Allied Services operates two rehabilitation facilities: the 117-bed Rehabilitation Hospital (1965), and the 94-bed John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (1982). Both are recognized by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) for the high level of quality services.Allied Services features numerous outpatient rehabilitation centers, an assisted living facility, skilled nursing center, home care, vocational and residential programs, and an elementary school for children with learning disabilities.Treatment programs include physical and occupational therapies, speech pathology and audiology, recreational therapy, rehabilitation nursing, nutritional services, psychological and social service counseling, and rehabilitation technology. Such specialty services as orthopedics, sports medicine, and pediatrics also are offered.
